Methyl 4-tolyl sulphinate is an organic compound that can be synthesized in an asymmetric synthesis. It is a thioacetal that is formed by the reaction of an imine with butyllithium, which acts as a base to deprotonate the imine. The resulting enolate can then react with a nucleophile such as ammonia or sodium amide to form the desired product. Methyl 4-tolyl sulphinate has been used in the synthesis of pyrazole derivatives and pyrazole derivative.
