Descrição:Methyl gallate is a bioactive phenolic compound that inhibits the growth of oral pathogens by blocking the activity of enzymes involved in energy metabolism. Methyl gallate has been shown to inhibit the activities of p-hydroxybenzoic acid (PHBA) hydrolase and aryl sulfatase, which are enzymes that break down PHBA and sulfated aromatic compounds. Methyl gallate can be used as a substitute for antibiotics to treat bowel disease, such as ulcerative colitis. Methyl gallate also has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects and may be used to treat chronic inflammatory diseases due to its ability to inhibit signal pathways.
