Methyl 2-hexylacetoacetate (M2HAA) is a heterocyclic compound that can be synthesized from pyridine. M2HAA is a monomer and is insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as dichloromethane and chloroform. It has been shown to form hydrogen bonds with other molecules, which may be due to the electron-donating properties of its methyl group. M2HAA has been used in the synthesis of polymers and supramolecular architectures.
