- Basic violet 1
Methyl violet is a dye that is used in wastewater treatment. It has been shown to have genotoxic activity, as well as the ability to cause DNA damage and inhibit photosynthetic activity. Methyl violet was shown to adsorb onto graphite electrodes, which led to an increase in the reactivity of the electrode surface. Kinetic studies showed that methyl violet is a good electron donor, but not a good electron acceptor. The adsorption of methyl violet onto graphite electrodes was found to be irreversible, with a Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Methyl violet has also been shown to have synchronous fluorescence properties and an optical sensor system. The 6-fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside (Rifapentine) is an anti-tuberculosis drug that belongs to the class of rifamycins. It is the most active of the rifamycins
