2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridine is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of organic compounds known as acid complexes. It forms acid complexes with metal ions such as copper, zinc, and nickel. 2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridine has been shown to cause systolic hypertension and congestive heart failure in animal studies. 2-Methyl-5-vinylpyridine may also have a role in the pathogenesis of cardiac hypertrophy by inhibiting the production of epidermal growth factor. This technique is based on the principle that the reduction potentials of different substances depend on their concentration in water solutions
