4-(1-Methyl-piperidin-4-yl)aniline (4MPaA) is a small molecule that has been shown to inhibit the kinase activity of PIM-1, which is a tyrosine kinase that is associated with chronic myeloid leukemia. In vitro studies have shown that 4MPaA inhibits the proliferation of human chronic myeloid leukemia cells, and also reduces their viability. This compound also inhibits murine leukemia in vivo, and has been shown to be selective for inhibiting the growth of murine cells over human cells in vitro. 4MPaA is an example of a novel class of compounds that inhibit PIM-1 by targeting its ATP binding site.
