This compound can be found in natural products such as protoberberine alkaloids and has been shown to inhibit acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity. It has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria that are resistant to erythromycin, tetracycline, chloramphenicol, and penicillin.
