This drug can also be used for chemoprevention against cancer. The drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in vivo by oral administration. This is due to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis and protein synthesis in cells by binding with DNA and inhibiting RNA synthesis through inhibition of ribonucleotide reductase.
