Descrição:5-Methoxy-2-methylaniline is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have neurotoxic effects in rats. The neurotoxicity of this substance has been shown to be related to its ability to inhibit monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A). This inhibition leads to an accumulation of the neurotransmitter dopamine, which in turn leads to an increase in the production of free radicals and lipid peroxidation. 5-Methoxy-2-methylaniline also shows neuroprotective properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit deoxypeganine and hydrochloric acid, two mediators involved in the generation of reactive oxygen species.
