mPEG4-NH2 is a synthetic polyethylene glycol molecule that has been modified with a reactive group to allow for the attachment of other molecules. This polymer can be synthesized in different isomers and end groups, which can lead to different pharmacological profiles. It has been used as a probe to measure tissue levels of endogenous dialkyl amines and as a fluorescent probe for the detection of lipid droplets in tissues. mPEG4-NH2 has also been shown to inhibit steatosis by decreasing triglyceride and total cholesterol synthesis in hepatocytes.
