Methyl brevifolin carboxylate is a natural product that belongs to the class of hydroxybenzoic acids. It is an acetate extract from the bark of the plant Corilagin, which belongs to the genus Terminalia. Methyl brevifolin carboxylate has been shown to inhibit both bacterial and fungal growth in vitro assays. The mechanism of action is not yet fully understood, but it may be due to methyl brevifolin carboxylate's ability to form intramolecular hydrogen bonds and its cytotoxic potency. Methyl brevifolin carboxylate also possesses chemical reactions with phenolic acid, which are responsible for its anti-inflammatory properties.
