3-Methoxy-2-Methylbenzaldehyde is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH3OCH2C6H4CHO. It is one of the three isomers of 3-methoxy-2-methylbenzaldehyde. This substance can be used to synthesize other compounds, such as 2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine which has been shown to have antipsychotic properties. 3-Methoxy-2-methylbenzaldehyde can also react with other substances to form materials that are used in biomolecular research. The reaction mechanism for this substance is not well known, but it may involve protonation followed by nucleophilic attack on the carbonyl group or a radical process involving hydroxyl groups.
