2-Methyl-8-fluoroquinoline is a synthetic benzyl compound that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It can be used for the catalytic conversion of alcohols to carbonyl compounds, such as ketones, esters, and carboxylic acids. 2-Methyl-8-fluoroquinoline can also be used to synthesize palladium complexes by reacting with stoichiometric amounts of organometallic compounds containing carbon monoxide. The chemical properties of this compound have been studied extensively and it has been shown that it reacts with primary alcohols to form benzyl alcohol.
