Methylsulfenyl Trifluoromethanesulfonate is a glycosidic bond-breaking agent that is activated by the hydroxyl group in the sugar. It is used to cleave disaccharides and other glycosidic bonds in order to prepare monosaccharides for further chemical modification or analysis. Methylsulfenyl Trifluoromethanesulfonate has been shown to have potent inhibition of influenza virus, which may be due to its ability to inhibit viral RNA synthesis. In addition, it has been shown that this drug can be used as an immunogen against human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in mice.
