4-Nitro-1,2-phenylenediamine is a nitro compound that has been shown to be a stable complex with protocatechuic acid. The hypoglycemic effect of 4-nitro-1,2-phenylenediamine has been demonstrated in various animal models. Structural analysis revealed that 4-nitro-1,2-phenylenediamine inhibits the activity of glutamate pyruvate transaminase (GPT) and trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). There is also evidence that it affects human serum enzymes such as xanthine oxidoreductase (XOR) and xanthine dehydrogenase (XDH). Results from surface methodology studies have suggested that 4-nitro-1,2-phenylenediamine binds to the surface of proteins and forms hydrogen bonds with the amino acids in proteins. Finally, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed that 4-nitro-1,
