It has been used to induce hypoxic tumor in animals, and 2NP has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by hydrogen bonding. 2NP also inhibits inflammatory diseases by binding to receptors on immune cells and thereby inhibiting their activity. The hydroxyl group on the molecule can form hydrogen bonds with water vapor, which may explain its increased activity in humid conditions. This drug has been shown to penetrate the mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibit cancer cell proliferation, as well as inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species in human liver cells.br>br>
