This process has been shown to have high yield and can also be used for synthesis of other compounds. 4-Nitro-phenylalanine methylester has been shown to be an anti-diabetic agent, as it stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic β cells and inhibits glucagon secretion from α cells.
