The purity of 3-nitro-4 propoxybenzoic acid can be determined by analyzing the reaction solution for impurities. 3NPA is typically synthesized from nitroparacen with sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid. This chemical can also be synthesized by reacting 3,4-dichlorobenzoic acid with propylene oxide and then hydrolyzing the resulting ester with hydrochloric acid.
