It is a prodrug that is converted to nandrolone by the liver. Nandrolone binds to the androgen receptor in muscle cells and causes an increase in protein synthesis, leading to muscle growth. Nandrolone undecanoate has been shown to have benefits for the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) by reducing inflammation at the site of the AAA.
