3-Nitro-6-methylphenylguanidine nitrate is a nitro compound that exhibits cytotoxicity against human bladder and stromal tumors in animals. 3-Nitro-6-methylphenylguanidine nitrate has been shown to inhibit the activation of DNA synthesis by demethylating the 3-acetylpyridine nucleus, which is required for the formation of nucleic acids. This drug also inhibits the growth of cervical cancer cells. The uptake, metabolism, and excretion of 3-nitro-6-methylphenylguanidine nitrate have been studied in rats using positron emission tomography (PET). It has been found that this drug is metabolized by the liver and excreted through urine and bile.
