Descrição:4-Nitrobiphenyl is a nitro compound that has been shown to have anthelmintic activity against the nematode, Typhimurium. The mechanism of action for 4-nitrobiphenyl is not known, but it may inhibit the acetate extract of the parasite and reduce its growth rate. 4-Nitrobiphenyl also inhibits the enzyme activities in bladder cells, which may be due to its ability to target tissue. It has also been shown to have no effect on untreated control cells. There are many chemical reactions that occur when 4-nitrobiphenyl is exposed to microbes, including biphenyl and ether formation and dehydroascorbate reductase inhibition.
