N-Nitroso-N-ethylaniline is a chemical that is used as a stabilizer in paints and varnishes. It is also used as a polymerization initiator, often in the presence of an inorganic acid, such as phosphoric acid or hydrochloric acid. This liquid chromatography method can be used to measure the concentration of N-nitrosamines in water samples. The biological effects of this substance have been studied extensively, but its carcinogenic potential has not been determined. It is classified as a Group 2B carcinogen by the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
