This drug relaxes the smooth muscles and increases blood flow to the penis, improving erections. N'-Nitro-D-arginine has also been shown to inhibit neutrophil migration by blocking receptors for tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) and interleukin 8 (IL8). However, this drug does not affect acrosome reaction or spermatozoa motility.
