Naphthoquine Phosphate is a trifluoroacetic acid salt of naphthoquine. It is used to treat malaria and has been shown to have a significant effect on the disease activity, as well as growth factors in serum. Naphthoquine Phosphate has also been shown to be effective against bacterial infections, such as tuberculosis, and may be useful for the treatment of other diseases caused by microorganisms. The drug can also be used for diagnostic purposes. The discovery of naphthoquine's antimalarial properties was made serendipitously in 1952 when it was found that a chemical plant worker who had accidentally spilled some trifluoroacetic acid on his hands developed malaria symptoms soon afterwards.
Naphthoquine phosphate is an effective drug against malaria and bacterial infections. It is also used for diagnostic purposes due to its ability to bind with metal ions and form a diazonium salt with hydrochloric acid
