Alpha-naphthaleneacetic acid potassium salt is a chemical that belongs to the family of organic compounds called phenolic acids. It is a white crystalline solid, soluble in water and acetone, that melts at 198 °C. Alpha-Naphthaleneacetic acid potassium salt has shown significant cytotoxicity against cells in culture at an optimum concentration. It has been used as a chemical pesticide and in analytical chemistry as an analytical reagent for determining the optical purity of polymers. Alpha-Naphthaleneacetic acid potassium salt is also used as an analytical reagent for determining the amount of pyridine in a sample by using fluorescence spectrometry.
