This drug also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-10, which may play a role in its therapeutic effects. Norisoboldine has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential and to be an anti-inflammatory agent. It also has a high bioavailability in vivo, which may be due to its ability to bind tightly to human serum proteins.
