Octaethylene glycol monododecyl ether is a surfactant that is used in the production of detergents. Octaethylene glycol monododecyl ether reacts with sodium dodecyl sulfate to form a hydrophilic molecule, and it can be used as a buffer to maintain the pH levels in detergents. This compound inhibits the binding of inhibitor molecules to enzymes that have ester linkages.
