The enzyme gamma-Oxo-3-pyridinebutyric acid, N-hydroxysuccinimide ester is a cytosolic protein that belongs to the polymerase chain. It is found in humans and its activity is inhibited by cancer cells. The substrate of this enzyme is 3-oxopropanoate, which can be synthesized from pyruvate and oxaloacetate. The reaction catalyzed by this enzyme has been shown to be important for the regulation of transcriptional processes. Gamma-Oxo-3-pyridinebutyric acid, N-hydroxysuccinimide ester also appears to play a role in the metabolism of molybdenum.
