Oxamic acid is a natural product that is found in the lichen usnea. It has been shown to have biological properties such as inhibiting atp levels and tissue culture, as well as being a cationic surfactant. Oxamic acid has also been shown to have antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to scavenge free radicals. The effects of oxamic acid on diabetic neuropathy and metabolic disorders are not completely understood, but it has been shown that it can reduce symptoms of these conditions. Oxamic acid also has an effect on autoimmune diseases by reducing the production of antibodies against self-antigens.
