The molecule consists of a pentafluorothiophenium cation and a bromine anion. It has two regioisomers, one with the sulfur atom in the 4 position and one with it in the 6 position. The compound has been studied as a precursor to polythiophene, which can be synthesized by heating BrSbF5 with sulfur dichloride.
