Descrição:2-Phenyl-1,3-dioxan-5-ol is an organic molecule that has been shown to have antimicrobial properties. The reaction mechanism is nucleophilic and requires an alkaline pH. 2-Phenyl-1,3-dioxan-5-ol can be synthesized by reacting phenylacetic acid with formaldehyde in the presence of carbon tetrachloride as a solvent.
