Prodiamine is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that has been shown to inhibit the production of eosinophil cationic protein in mouse tumor. Prodiamine also inhibits the activity of various enzymes, including blood coagulation factor Xa, thrombin, and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1. The inhibition of these enzymes leads to reduced platelet aggregation and clotting. In addition, prodiamine may have a protective effect on cardiac tissues by inhibiting cellular transformation and inducing cell death in cancer cells. Prodiamine is also involved in the regulation of cytokines such as stem cell factor, which are important for the growth and differentiation of stem cells. In addition, prodiamine has been shown to inhibit T lymphocyte activation through CTLA-4 receptor interactions.
