3-Piperidin-1-ylpropanenitrile is a chiral molecule that can be used as an experimental probe for the study of the pharmacokinetics and metabolism of drugs. It has been shown to be effective in monitoring plasma concentrations, as well as plasma samples, with an x-ray crystal structure. The terminal half life of 3-Piperidin-1-ylpropanenitrile is approximately 5 minutes. This compound has been shown to inhibit the activity of CPT11 and is therefore clinically relevant. 3-Piperidin-1-ylpropanenitrile can be detected by gas chromatography and its reaction time is approximately 2 hours. Thiosemicarbazide is a reactant in this process, which is converted into thiopyran upon completion of the reaction mechanism.
