Descrição

1-Propyl-1H-imidazole-2-carbaldehyde is a viscous liquid. It has a boiling point of 150°C, and a density of 1.076g/mL at 20°C. 1-Propyl-1H-imidazole-2-carbaldehyde is soluble in methanol, acetone, diethyl ether and chloroform. It has been shown to coordinate with copper ions and form square planar complexes with ligands. This molecule has six tautomeric forms: the two enolic forms (aldol), the two ketonic forms (ketol) and the two imidazole forms (enamine). 1-Propyl-1H-imidazole-2-carbaldehyde can be made by reacting pyridine with an aldehyde or an alcohol in the presence of copper metal ions.
