It has been used for the elucidation of hydrogenation reactions, desorption of organic compounds from silica gel, as well as for the synthesis of monomers. Phthalazin-5-amine also has a high reactivity with aldehydes, which can be used in reactive coupling reactions. The molecular weight was determined by mass spectrometry to be 222.14 g/mol. The compound is a white solid at room temperature and can be stored below -20°C.
