3-Phenyl-5-piperazino-1,2,4-thiadiazole (3PPT) is an analog of phenylalanine. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the enzyme hydrolase and convert blood group A to B. 3PPT binds covalently to the antigenic determinant on the surface of red blood cells and inhibits their ability to agglutinate with other blood groups. This drug has also been shown to have a significant anticancer effect in mice with cancer. 3PPT has been found to be a potent inhibitor of fatty acid synthesis in rat liver cells and may be useful for treating pancreatic cancer. 3PPT is a blood group antigen that can be used for serotyping as well as optimization of antibodies against blood group antigens.
