1-(6-Pyridazinyl)piperazine is a chemical compound that is structurally related to gabapentin. It has been shown to be an effective treatment for chronic cough, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of c1-6 alkyl cation channels in airway smooth muscle cells. 1-(6-Pyridazinyl)piperazine has been shown to have a non-selective cation channel blocking effect on the human respiratory tract, leading to inhibition of cough reflexes and reduced sensitivity of the cough receptors. This drug also inhibits citric acid cycle enzymes and hydrogen ion secretion by parietal cells, which may contribute to its anti-inflammatory effects.
