N-Phenyl-2-aminothiazole is a heterocyclic compound that contains a hydroxy group, cyclopentyl, and an ethyl group. The structural formula of this compound is shown below. N-Phenyl-2-aminothiazole inhibits the activity of glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) by binding to and inhibiting its catalytic activity. This inhibition prevents the phosphorylation of glycogen synthase, which blocks the production of glycogen in cells. In addition, it has been shown that N-phenyl-2-aminothiazole can inhibit the production of formylglycine and acetoacetate in vitro. This inhibition may be due to its ability to inhibit the enzyme acetone carboxylase and the enzyme pyruvate dehydrogenase complex.
