10-Phenyl-9(10H)-acridinone is a triazole derivative that is used as an inhibitor of plant diseases. The compound emits light when irradiated with UV light and has been shown to inhibit the growth of fungi. 10-Phenyl-9(10H)-acridinone has been shown to be effective against leaf and stem pathogen species such as Fusarium oxysporum, Rhizoctonia solani, and Phoma sorghina. This compound also inhibits the growth of certain bacteria species such as Pseudomonas syringae and Erwinia amylovora. 10-Phenyl-9(10H)-acridinone is synthesized by reacting an acridine with phosphorus oxychloride in the presence of an aromatic hydrocarbon, such as benzene or toluene.
