7H-Purine-6-carboxylic acid is a purine analog that has been used as a ligand to study the nature of diffraction and techniques. It is also used as a substrate for formylation, which is an important process in the chemical industry. 7H-Purine-6-carboxylic acid has been shown to inhibit the enzyme aldehyde oxidase and is therefore used as an inhibitor in the laboratory. The functional theory of 7H-Purine-6-carboxylic acid was first proposed by Jean Louis Leloir in 1951. He hypothesized that this molecule was chemically similar to adenosine and ribose, but with one less hydrogen atom on the 6th carbon atom.
