This chemical compound also reacts with malonic acid and hydrogen bromide to produce trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TFMS), which can be used for various industrial purposes, such as corrosion inhibition. 3-Pentanol can be produced by reacting methyl ethyl ketone and hydrochloric acid or inorganic acids, such as sulfuric acid.
