Pentisomide binds to α1-acid glycoprotein, which is an antigen found in the blood and tissues of humans. It exerts its effect by preventing inflammation and suppressing immune responses, thereby inhibiting the development of resistant mutants. Pentisomide has a long-term efficacy with no significant side effects, making it a suitable treatment for cardiac diseases and chronic oral use. Pentisomide also has pharmacokinetic properties that allow it to be taken orally, as well as insoluble polymer properties that allow it to be administered intravenously.
