Descrição:Phenelzine sulfate is a non-selective, irreversible inhibitor of the enzyme monoamine oxidase (MAO). It has been shown to inhibit 5-HT2 receptors in an experimental model. Phenelzine sulfate has been used as a pharmacological agent in the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders. Phenelzine sulfate inhibits the activity of other drugs metabolized by MAO, such as tricyclic antidepressants and beta-blockers. It also inhibits atherosclerotic lesion formation and neuronal death induced by amyloid peptide in mice.
