4-Pyridineacetonitrile hydrochloride is a fluorescent compound that can be used for cancer therapy. It has been shown to selectively accumulate in tumor cells, which have higher levels of potassium hexafluorophosphate and a lower pH than normal cells. The high concentration of this chemical in the tumor leads to an increase in fluorescence intensity, which can be detected by imaging techniques such as optical coherence tomography or confocal microscopy. This technique can then be used to monitor the progress of treatment. 4-Pyridineacetonitrile hydrochloride has also been shown to alter the red shift of fluorescence, causing it to appear redder than normal fluorophores. This property makes it an ideal candidate for use in cancer therapy due to its ability to bind with DNA and inhibit protein synthesis.
