N-(4-Pyridyl)-N'-(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)urea (NPU) is a molecule that can modulate the function of FoxO1. This protein plays a role in neuronal function and eye disorders. NPU has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial oxidation, as well as modulating cell growth and apoptosis. The effects of NPU on pluripotent cells have also been studied and it was found that this compound regulates inflammatory diseases and cancer. It has also been found to increase axonal growth in cultured neurons.
