3-n-Propyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one is a natural product that belongs to the class of tannins. It can be found in leaves of Citrus aurantium, which is also known as Seville oranges. 3-n-Propyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one has been shown to exhibit various biological activities, including antiinflammatory and antifungal properties. This compound can be synthesized in an advanced laboratory setting by the reaction of 2 pyrazoline derivatives with 5% hydrochloric acid, followed by the addition of ethanol. The resulting dihydrate crystallizes from water to form a colorless solid that diffracts X rays and is soluble in alcohol.
