L-Proline tert-butyl ester is an organic compound that is used in the synthesis of amino acids and pharmaceuticals. It is chiral, and can be synthesized by a stepwise, asymmetric synthesis. The hydrochloric acid treatment of L-lysine with trifluoroacetic acid yields the corresponding L-proline tert-butyl ester.
