5-Propyl-isoxazole-3-carboxylic acid is a small molecule that has been shown to inhibit the activity of a number of proteins involved in the immune response such as TNFα and IL6. This drug also inhibits inflammation at low doses, which may be due to its ability to block bromodomain proteins. 5-Propyl-isoxazole-3-carboxylic acid has been shown to bind selectively to zl0420 and zl0454, two bromodomain proteins that are involved in gene regulation. The structure of 5-propyl-isoxazole-3-carboxylic acid was determined by X-ray crystallography and this information has been used to design a series of structures based on this molecule for the treatment of diseases such as cancer.
