(2R,4R)-(-)-2,4-Pentanediol has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on diphosphine desulfurization reactions and intramolecular hydrogen transfer reactions. It can also act as a co-catalyst with dimethyl fumarate in the oxidative desulfurization of propane.
