Pinostrobin is a natural compound that belongs to the group of caffeic acid derivatives. Pinostrobin has been shown to bind to intracellular targets, such as mitochondria and the nucleus. It induces mitochondrial functions, leading to significant cytotoxicity. Pinostrobin also has hypoglycemic effects in vivo, which may be due to its ability to inhibit glucose uptake by inhibiting insulin signaling. The analytical method for pinostrobin was developed using a model system that was composed of murine hepatoma cells and mitochondrial membrane potential.
